Each summer we spend a weekend in Rochester, Minn., for the member/guest golf tournament at the Deutsch’s country club, this year marking our third-annual attendance. While best friends and former Notre Dame golf teammates Shane and Eric play golf for three days, Eric’s wife, Deanna, and I lay out by the pool, sip cocktails on the patio overlooking the 18th hole (Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka and lemonade was the drink of choice for the weekend!) and watch our men battle it out for the coveted first-place finish. Each time we visit we realize that summers in Minnesota really are amazing (despite the stormy weather we’ve witnessed for the past three years!).
The weekend was a blast as always, with the boys winning first in their division and fourth overall, and Shane coming in first overall in the individual category, which means pro shop credit for the ladies! I do love life at the country club.
