My first trip abroad was at the age of 15 on a mission trip to Guatemala, and I have had a passion for exploring new cultures ever since. As a journalist and photographer, I’ve tried to incorporate travel into my career at any given chance. Although my stories and photos have landed on the pages of a select few magazines, there’s aren’t enough pages to share my experiences traveling the globe. I’m hoping this blog serves as that purpose.
I started this blog when my now-husband Shane and I went on the road for a year-and-a-half trip around the world. Our journey started in Chicago in November 2009 and ended in Hermosa Beach, Calif., where we now call home, in February 2011, visiting seven countries and 20 states in between. We still travel the globe for work and for play, but the only difference is that we’re not living out of Shane’s 2003 Tahoe. We love to explore great, local food and wine, and the best shopping, tours and excursions at each destination, and it’s my goal to bring our travels to life through my writing and photography on Passport to Roam.
