Rule #1 to conquering the Las Vegas strip is to look the part. Unbeknownst to me before our arrival three months ago, Las Vegas is a fashionistas paradise. High-end designer boutiques are spread throughout the luxe casinos, outlet malls surround the city and almost everywhere you look there is someone dressed to the nines. Before you pack for your next trip to Las Vegas, steal these celebrity looks that’ll aid in helping you pack for the part.
Vegas by Day
Summer is in full swing in the desert, which only means one thing: it’s freakin’ hot. Like 110 degrees hot. No, the summer isn’t the best time of year to come (optimal travel dates are November – May) but if you find yourself being drawn to the city for your summer vacation, be sure you know how to dress accordingly. During the day when temperatures could soar pass 100 degrees and there’s sightseeing on your itinerary, your best bet is to wear shorts, flats (or wedges) and a tank. Pack a light jacket for when you step into the casinos because if it’s hot outdoors, it usually means it’s extra cold indoors.
Poolside
A typical day in Vegas during the summer usually consists of bikinis, poolside cabanas reserved for the rich and famous and the hottest DJ in town. So how do you manage to look chic at the Vegas pool parties sweating it in the 100+ degree weather? All you need is a sexy bathing suit that shines, a trendy up-do, sweat-proof makeup and a colorful coverup. Oh, and this is probably one of the only places where wearing heels with a bathing suit are appropriate.
After Hours
Vegas is known for boasting one of the best scenes for nightlife. Unlike my previous experience with going-out attire, which included jeans and a tank, Vegas is a different caliber of dress. There’s a dress code for almost all the clubs and even some of the more trendy restaurants that you can usually find on the venue’s Website. If you’re unsure what to wear for a night on the town, just remember the dressier, shinier, higher and shorter the better.
