With names like Gucci, Versace, Dior, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce & Gabbana on the résumé of Italian-born designers, it’s no wonder the Italians take their fashion very seriously. After spending just a few days watching the lavishly styled culture go about their daily life dressed head-to-toe in fine Italian fabrics and leather, we were inspired to follow suit.
I spent two afternoons in Florence on the fashion-heavy streets of Via dei Calzaiuoli and Via Tornabuoni shopping among the fashion élite, trying on €4,000 white Grecian gowns at Salvatore Ferragamo and €500 stilettos at Gucci to no avail. I wanted everything.
I narrowed down my must-haves and picked out a pair of red and gold Salvatore Ferragamo heels and a pair of white denim Dolce & Gabbana jeans, both from their spring/summer 2012 collections. I even talked Shane into buying a pair of Dolce & Gabbana jeans and a Gucci jacket with little persuasion.
