Fashion Travel Obsessions

Most of the time I travel, the number of fashion faux pas I see in airports are a travesty. Yes, flying can be a long, tiring and uncomfortable experience. But it doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your style for the sake of comfort. Beauty is pain, people. It’s time to retire those Juicy velour pants and Ugg boots. From accessories to attire, here’s what you should be sporting when you travel.

A casual outfit. It’s cute, it’s comfy AND it’s fashionable. How about that! This look, courtesy of the chic chicks at LNA Clothing, pretty much sums up my travel style: a relaxed T-shirt, tights and flats (ankle or riding boots in the winter, ballet flats or sandals in the summer).

A cozy scarf. Having a wrap handy is a must for me when traveling. (I can catch a chill in the dead of summer!) It’s lightweight and still adds warmth without the bulk of a sweater or coat. This Burberry scarf is a timeless classic.

Oversized sunnies. I usually nap on flights, which sometimes leaves me looking worn and weary when I land. Hide your tired eyes with a pair of sunglasses like this bamboo embellished pair from Gucci.

A showstopper watch. Having to run through the airport to catch a flight Home Alone style is the worst. Keep track of the time with a classic timepiece like this rose gold and white ceramic watch from Fendi. Love!

An organized wallet. I can’t count the times I’ve found myself digging in the bottom of my purse for my ticket or ID in the security line. With a travel wallet like this Tory Burch Robinson Zip Wallet, you can keep all of your travel documents in one place.

A colorful makeup bag. Checking powders and brushes could be disastrous, and who knows when I’ll need a last-minute touch-up pre-landing. I pretty much love anything Kate Spade and anything in stripes, which makes this St. Elmo Stripe Medium Heddy makeup bag pretty awesome in my book.

A roomy carry-on bag. As a traveling journalist, sometimes I feel like I’m toting everything but the kitchen sink in my carry-on. When we were in Paris, I picked up this Longchamp Pilage Travel Duffel Bag that fits my purse, computer, laptop, magazines, snacks, water, you name it, it fits. Fabulous.
